About me

I have always been fascinated by old buildings, playing freely as a child on the edge of town and daring to venture into disused factories, gas works, the defunct railway station and random houses.

This early interest has since been reawakened on walks through derelict cityscapes, for example the canals of Stoke, while waiting to pick my wife up from work. I decided to photograph what I saw, particularly abandoned and decaying buildings and things that had been left behind. This soon brought me into contact with the ‘urban explorer’ community, both in person and on-line, which has helped extend my practice and build up a network, leading me to explore and photograph further afield.

My photography captures more than just architecture; the building is an emotional entity for me, lonely but peaceful and content. Through my documentary photography, I hope to explore the themes of nostalgia, reminiscence and transience.
